Area of Operation

OMILAYE operates under the Public-Private Partnership for the operation of the public drinking water service in rural Benin.

Through lots 1 and 3 entrusted to it, the company covers eight departments of the country and is progressively rolling out its activities as close as possible to rural populations, across the municipalities, districts and localities covered by the drinking water supply systems under its responsibility.

This area of operation reflects the confidence placed in OMILAYE and confirms its strategic role in supporting the State of Benin towards universal access to drinking water, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 6.

Lot 1 — Borgou, Alibori, Ouémé and Plateau

Lot 1 covers four departments whose local realities complement one another. Lot 3 — Zou, Collines, Mono and Couffo

Lot 3 covers four departments in central and south-western Benin. This area presents major challenges around densifying the service, developing individual household connections, continuity of operations, water quality and improving user satisfaction.

The company works in coordination with the contracting authority, local authorities and the communities it serves.

A local presence in the service of rural communities

Across its two lots, OMILAYE frames its work around proximity, accountability and performance. Its area of operation allows it to meet the essential needs of rural populations while contributing to the modernisation of the public drinking water service in Benin.

This local presence is a major lever for bringing drinking water lastingly closer to communities, improving household living conditions and supporting local development.

OMILAYE — Water is life.
