Operational Performance

Lastingly improving the quality of the rural drinking water service

Operational performance is a major focus of OMILAYE's work as operator of the rural public drinking water service.

It reflects the company's ability to deliver a service that is reliable, continuous, high quality and accessible to the populations it serves, while optimising the management of infrastructure, the mobilisation of teams, the maintenance of facilities, consumption tracking, customer relations and the quality of the water distributed.

Through this approach, OMILAYE pursues continuous improvement in the service of households, local authorities, public institutions, local economic activity and rural communities.

A structured operational organisation

OMILAYE's performance rests on a local structure designed to bring the service closer to users.

The company draws on its head office, its regional branches, its service points and its field teams to monitor the drinking water systems it operates day to day.

This organisation makes it possible to coordinate technical, commercial and customer-facing activities, while guaranteeing better responsiveness to people's needs.

Zone managers, network technicians, electromechanical technicians, standpipe attendants, zone officers, customer service officers and maintenance teams each contribute to the continuity, quality and proximity of the service.

Infrastructure monitored day to day

Operational performance also rests on the rigorous monitoring of the water infrastructure entrusted to OMILAYE.

Production facilities, boreholes, pumping equipment, reservoirs, distribution networks, connections and service points receive continuous attention to guarantee they work properly.

This supervision makes it possible to anticipate malfunctions, plan interventions, reduce service interruptions and progressively improve the reliability of the drinking water supply systems.

Some key figures

OMILAYE operates across a strategic area covering a significant share of the rural public drinking water service in Benin.

By way of illustration, the company's work is built around several major operational markers:

  • 8 departments covered: Ouémé, Plateau, Zou, Collines, Mono, Couffo, Borgou and Alibori;
  •  4 regional branches to strengthen closeness to local areas;
  • more than 311 drinking water systems operated ;
  • around 5,000 km of network monitored across the areas of operation;
  • more than 345 boreholes and water facilities mobilised for water production and availability;
  • more than 10,000 beneficiary households under the social measure for subsidised connections;
  •  nearly 3 million people served through the infrastructure operated.

These figures reflect the scale of OMILAYE's area of operation and the operational responsibility the company carries day to day.

Performance measured by the quality of service provided

For OMILAYE, performance is not limited to the infrastructure operated or the volumes distributed. It is measured above all by the quality of the service provided to the population.

This standard translates into continuity of supply, team responsiveness, command of interventions, water quality, reliable billing, listening to users and the ability to meet the needs expressed in the field.

The aim is to offer rural populations a public drinking water service that is closer, more professional and more sustainable.

A continuous improvement approach

OMILAYE frames its operational performance within a continuous improvement approach.

This rests on monitoring operating indicators, analysing incidents, strengthening maintenance, improving customer relations, professionalising teams and progressively optimising networks.

It allows the company to identify areas for progress, adapt its interventions to conditions on the ground and strengthen service quality in the localities it serves.

A contribution to universal access to drinking water

OMILAYE's operational performance contributes directly to the national ambition of universal access to drinking water in rural areas.

By handling operations, maintenance, distribution, quality control, continuity of service and support for users, OMILAYE helps deliver Sustainable Development Goal 6, devoted to access to clean water and sanitation for all.

Every intervention carried out, every network maintained, every household connected and every user supported represents a step towards a public service that is more accessible, more reliable and more equitable.

Our commitment

Through operational performance, OMILAYE reaffirms its commitment to delivering a public drinking water service founded on quality, proximity, accountability and sustainability.

The company works every day to improve how its systems run, strengthen continuity of service, preserve infrastructure and provide rural populations with drinking water that is available, safe and accessible.

OMILAYE — Water is life.
